Meet Dr. Wright
Dr. Helene D. Wright is a seasoned strategist and operations expert with over 20 years of experience helping organizations move from complexity to clarity. As the founder of HDW Consulting, LLC, she partners with nonprofits, corporations, and institutions to strengthen internal systems, develop actionable strategic plans, and resolve operational bottlenecks with precision.
Her consulting approach is grounded in real-world leadership and backed by an academic foundation that spans public service, justice, and organizational systems. Dr. Wright holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a concentration in Public Service Leadership, a Master’s in Criminal Justice with a focus on Homeland Security and Terrorism, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Legal Administration and Human Resources. This unique combination of disciplines allows her to assess challenges holistically and deliver structured, results-driven solutions.
Dr. Wright’s work centers on aligning mission with execution, improving organizational workflows, maximizing grant performance, and fostering effective team dynamics through workplace mediation. She has advised executive teams on multi-year growth strategies, overseen complex grant portfolios, and designed operational systems that drive compliance, transparency, and performance. Her clients consistently value her calm, methodical approach and her ability to translate vision into action with clarity and confidence.
One of her most distinguished roles was serving as the sole social scientist on a collaborative NIH research grant focused on environmental health impacts at the East Chicago Superfund Site. Working alongside Indiana University, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame, she brought a systems-level lens to a multidisciplinary public health initiative.
Beyond consulting, Dr. Wright contributes her expertise as a board leader, advisor, and national peer reviewer. She currently serves on several committees in the Puget Sound region and supports organizations such as the American Sociological Association and the American Educational Research Association through research and evaluation review.
