Dr. Helene Wright

With over two decades of professional experience in business operations and administrative management across both non-profit and for-profit sectors, Dr. Wright boasts a wealth of expertise encompassing planning, project management, budgeting, policy development, grant compliance, financial reporting, and employee training.
In 2016, she established HDW Consulting, leveraging her extensive background to collaborate with individuals and organizations in driving equitable outcomes through multifaceted initiatives spanning policy, systemic, institutional, community, and societal transformations. Employing methodologies rooted in research, strategic planning, consultation, and educational interventions, Dr. Wright diligently addresses entrenched obstacles to racial equity, offering consulting services ranging from research endeavors and grant oversight to administrative support solutions and diversity, equity, and inclusion training, aimed at enhancing operational efficacy and cultivating inclusive workplace environments.
Beyond her consultancy endeavors, Dr. Wright assumes active roles on various committees and boards throughout the Puget Sound region, notably serving as the Environmental Chair for the NAACP of Snohomish County. Additionally, she contributes her expertise as an esteemed reviewer for esteemed bodies such as the American Sociological Association and the American Educational Research Association.
As a seasoned social scientist, Dr. Wright delves into critical issues surrounding race, class, gender, discrimination, healthcare disparities, criminology, and environmental justice, reflected in her scholarly contributions and academic leadership within university settings. Armed with advanced degrees spanning Human Resources, Criminal Justice, and Philosophy-Human Services, her research interests converge on the intersections of philosophy, racial dynamics, healthcare disparities, criminology, and environmental justice, with a specialized focus on workplace and classroom microaggressions.
Noteworthy among her recent endeavors is her pivotal role as the sole African American social scientist on a collaborative NIH grant initiative, aimed at investigating environmental contamination and its implications on brain health within the community of East Chicago, Indiana’s Superfund Site, in partnership with prestigious institutions including Indiana University, Purdue University, and the University of Notre Dame.
